To whom is the CBL China International Business School addressed?
CBL China International Business School is a program specifically designed for students with a strong
interest in international business law affairs and modern China. Since the lectures focus mainly on business
law and issues such as intellectual property rights and foreign enterprises in China, it is appealing to both
undergraduate and graduate students particularly from the fields of law and business/management. However,
this is not meant to exclude any other possible participants. The participation is possible only if the
application form made available by us is filled out and sent to CIBCL via mail or fax. After all registrations
have been processed, the CIBCL staff will then inform the applicants about their participation.
Since when does CBL China International Business School take place?
CBL China International Business School was arranged for the first time in Feb/Mar 2008 in cooperation with
the School of Economics and Management at Tongji University, Shanghai. Nevertheless, CBL schools are taking
place since 2007 at different locations around the world. In the past year, more than 70 students and young
professionals from 10 different countries participated in CBL schools. In March 2008, CBL is organizing CBL
China International Law School and International Business School in Shanghai. For these schools already 70
students have enrolled and are getting ready for their Asian School. In addition to these spring programs
in June 2008 the CBL China International Business and Law Schools are organized in two of the biggest cities
of China, Shanghai and Beijing. In July 2008, the new CBL Oxford Business Law School is going to host students
from all over the world in England, Europe. In August 2008 the first CBL Riga International Business School
is organized in Latvia and in December 2008 the first CBL Dubai Business School will start and show the
students the fantastic atmosphere of the Middle East.
Which language are the lectures in? Is it necessary to speak or understand Chinese to follow the programm?
The CBL China International Business School is hold in English. No Chinese is necessary to follow the lectures.
As part of the programm, participants will learn basic Chinese in a language course.
Who organizes CBL China International Business School?
CBL China International Business School is organized by the Center for International Business and Commercial Law,
a mechanism of the Shanghai Continental Consulting Ltd. in co-operation with the Sino-German department of Tongji
University. Additionally, further partner organizations and enterprises take part in the organization and support
of CBL China International Business School.
Will there be mandatory examinations as part of CBL China International Business School?
Yes, some examinations are integrated into the program's framework. The language course is a definite element
of the School and will end with a small test for all participants.
Do I receive a certificate for the participation in CBL China International Business School?
Yes, the staff will hand out a one-sided participation certificate at the end of the program. This presupposes that
90% of all meetings were in fact attended. Additionally, the confirmation of absolvement depends on the successful
participation in the examinations, which are integrated into the three-week program. The certificate will list the
groups of topics, for which instruction units were offered, as well as the examinations and all other activities,
in which the student participated.
Is previous knowledge necessary before applying?
No, previous knowledge is not necessarily required. Concerning some of the modules, which are taught by renowned
lecturers from various international institutions, it is possible that the content appears broad and many issues
of which the participant has no prior knowledge will be addressed. Due to the diversity of the students' study
fields, CBL China International Business School is nonetheless a program that is informative to non-law students
and through the general instruction units we facilitate equal access to the matter for everybody.
Which level of accommodation can I expect in Shanghai?
The organizers of the program constantly try to guarantee you a very pleasant stay in Shanghai. The participants
will be settle in the guesthouse of Tongji University. The guesthouse complex is situated in a quiet living area,
a mere 15-minute walk away from the university, and presents itself as a nationally-recognized three-star hotel.
The guesthouse was chosen for reasons including proximity, safety, and proper service which include room service
and in-room internet access.
Why isn't the transfer from and/or to the airport contained in the total price?
Not all of the participants of CBL China International Business School arrive/leave at the same time. Some of them
will have usually arrived a few days earlier or plan to extend their stay in China afterwards. Thus, a group transfer
from and to the airport is not intended.
