Game of Thrones Meets CBL International at Magdalene College Ball
Another announcement! CBL International is the Platinum Sponsor of this year’s Magdalene College May Ball in Cambridge. The Ball, a night of entertainment and elegance, will be held on the evening of this year’s summer solstice. This is not only an incredibly prestigious event, but it also demonstrates the importance of the partnership between CBL International and Magdalene College who together offer Cambridge Summer Institute.
With 2017 marking 5 years of this fantastic programme Matt Wallace, CBL International Communications & Partnerships Manager, said, “Supporting an event of this scale at Magdalene College is a true privilege and pleasure. It really helps showcase the ever-growing partnership with this great academic institution. With our own stage hosting acts such as DJ Hodor from Game of Thrones it promises to be an amazing night.”

Oxford Summer Abroad Springs into Action!
As preparations are underway for a busy summer at Oxford Summer Abroad the first session has already been a huge success. Delegates from all over the globe travelled to Oxford during their Easter Break to immerse themselves in the Oxford student way of life studying courses in Business and Law at Oriel College, University of Oxford. Alongside their highly academic courses, their time in Oxford was enriched with evening talks from industry experts, corporate visits to organisations such as Lloyd’s of London, BMW Mini Plant, Oxford, and Oxford Crown Court, as well as cultural activities like punting, museum visits, and excursions to Blenheim Palace and Bath.
Swati Wig, an #OSI Easter Session delegate said, “It has been a truly memorable 2 weeks – the studying, the sight-seeing but most of all, getting to meet an amazing group of people from around the world has been an experience for life. We are now ‘The Graduates’ but the friendships have only just begun.”
If you would like to know more about what our delegates got up to during their time in Oxford you can read all about their day-to-day activities by visiting Oxford Summer Abroad’s blog page written by Swati: http://oxfordsummerabroad.com/category/blog/

Success Down Under
In February, CBL International delegates said “G’day!” to Australia Summer Institute. Delegates descended upon the University of New South Wales in Sydney to immerse themselves in academic courses in Business & Legal English and Intercultural Communication. Complemented with cultural activities and corporate visits to the likes of top legal firms such as Minter Ellison and Holman Webb, as well as visits to Australia Broadcasting Corporation and the Reserve Bank of Australia, delegates received a one of a kind study abroad experience.
Solicitor, David Jin, of Holman Webb (and CBL International alumnus) said, “This is the second year of welcoming ASI delegates to Holman Webb. It is a great opportunity for the firm to connect with the next generation of lawyers and focus on Australian arbitration. As a CBL International alumnus myself, I know first hand the advantages of attending such a study abroad programme, and have no doubt that this year’s delegates will have long-lasting great memories.”

‘Song & Dance’ Brings Everybody To Their Feet
Perfect Pitch! The Song & Dance concert (as featured in our February issue) took place in March to echoes of applause. The evening was an aesthetic and audible pleasure, and was a hugely entertaining evening for all in attendance. It is an honour to be so involved with the activities of Oriel College and its students.
Josephine Korda, conductor and event organiser, said, “It was such a pleasure to be a part of – it has made me immensely proud. I cannot thank everyone enough; all of our performers, everybody that helped organise the event, and of course to Oxford Summer Abroad, offered jointly by my college and CBL International, for sponsoring the evening. It could not have gone better.”

This Spring was a very exciting month for CBL International on social media reaching over 500 followers on Instagram! Social media outlets like this are very important. Yes, they help CBL International share information about current and planned programmes but, more importantly, they serve as a great platform for all of our delegates to meet each other, engage with each other and stay connected for years (if not lifetimes) after our programmes have come to a close.
