Location
A Look Into Dubai, UAE
Dubai is a city of superlatives and therefore the ideal location for a study abroad programme. The tallest building of the world (The Burj Khalifa which is 829.84 meters tall), the biggest shopping mall of the world (The Dubai Mall is 12 million square feet), the one and only 7-star hotel (Burj-Al-Arab) are all located in Dubai – and many more superlatives to discover.
Dubai is one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is located south of the Persian Gulf on the Arabian Peninsula and has the largest population with the second-largest land territory by area of all the emirates, after Abu Dhabi.
Dubai lies directly within the Arabian Desert. Therefore you will enjoy beautiful warm weather while attending your lectures and all leisure activities. Parts of the lecture facilities are located close to one of the beautiful public beaches. It’s the perfect location for a winter or summer study abroad programme!
Abu Dhabi, Capital of UAE
Abu Dhabi is the federal capital of the United Arab Emirates, and also the largest of the seven emirates – it therefore is a must to visit during a study abroad programme in the Middle East. This second most populous city of the UAE lies on a T-shaped island with its futuristic skyscrapers rising from the desert coast of the Persian Gulf.
Abu Dhabi is comprised of international luxurious hotels, extensive entertainment and leisure facilities, and beautiful green streets and parks. It is also the cultural center within the UAE. It’s also home to the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Mosque, Abu Dhabi’s most important landmark and one of the most important pieces of architecture in the UAE (pictured below).

My three week trip to Dubai for the CBL International School was a unique experience. Not only was I able to gain a great grasp of the business practices in the Middle East, but I was able to experience Dubai in far greater depth than the average tourist experience. From the tour of the Burj Al-Arab to the presentations at the Dubai Financial Center, and to the lifelong friends I made, I would not pass up this once in a lifetime experience
